Meet the Team at NW Resources
At NW Resources, we’re proud to be a small but dedicated team that genuinely cares about doing right by our customers. Whether we’re out on farm visits, taking calls in the office, or sourcing new products, we’re always focused on providing the best service and bedding solutions for farms across the UK. Here’s a little more about the people behind the business…
Neil Whittaker
Founder & Managing Director
Neil founded NW Resources in 2006 and has been developing the business ever since.
Having grown up on a dairy farm on the outskirts of Chester, he understood how dairy farms operated and the needs of farmers. His aim has always been to provide a range of products to suit all budgets, alongside a first-class service to his customers.
On a day-to-day basis, Neil can often be found sourcing and developing new products, and as a result, NW Resources now offers the largest range of bedding products on the market, serving farms across the UK.
When he’s not looking for the next product or opportunity to improve NW Resources, he spends time catching up with farmers and really enjoys farm visits when he can get back out into he countryside, his favourite place to be.
Out of work, Neil is married with two grown-up children and two step-children. He loves travelling and watching Formula 1 racing.
Matt Sides
Business Manager
Matt’s been with NW Resources for over a decade. He originally started in a part-time role to support our business founder, Neil, but soon took on a full-time position as the business expanded.
In his role as Business Manager, Matt’s focus is on making sure all our customers are happy and have a steady supply of bedding.
His day-to-day work sees him handling sales enquiries as well as arranging transport for our bedding products to meet our customers’ needs.
Matt also loves attending trade shows on behalf of NW Resources, where he enjoys chatting to farmers and suppliers.
When asked what he loves most about his job, Matt said: “The customers! If I can save someone money, improve someone’s results or even just have a five-minute chat and catch up with our regulars, I’ve had a good day.”
Out of work, Matt is a keen car enthusiast, attending car shows and collecting model cars. He’s also a big movie fan and watches over 200 movies a year!
Karen Halton
Business Development & Marketing Executive
Karen joined NW Resources in 2025 as Business Development & Marketing Executive.
She brings with her a wealth of experience in the animal bedding sector, having specialised in sales and marketing in the equine and poultry bedding sectors for over ten years.
At NW Resources, Karen’s role is key in supporting our growth and keeping customer relationships strong.
Her focus is connecting farmers with the right bedding solutions across the cattle, poultry, and equine sectors and she works closely with both new and long-standing customers, making sure enquiries are handled quickly and efficiently.
Karen also looks after our marketing activity, from product promotions to event planning, helping spread the word about NW Resources and what we offer.
Karen says her favourite part of the job is the interaction with customers. “I really enjoy getting to know them and building those long-term working relationships,” she said.
Outside of work, Karen is an early riser who enjoys swimming most mornings.
