Dairy farmers looking for a practical way to use lime alongside their bedding can now see a new 25kg bagged feed-grade lime from NW Resources at this week’s Dairy Day, where the company is also celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The new bagged product is particularly suited to farms using baled bedding products, offering a convenient option for farmers who do not have the space or facilities to store lime in bulk.

Available in 25kg bags, farmers can buy the quantity they need without committing to a full bulk load. The bags are supplied in pallets of 48 and can be delivered nationwide, with a price of £5.35 plus VAT per bag delivered to most areas of the UK.

The same product is also available from NW Resources in 29-tonne bulk tipped loads for farms with the storage capacity to buy in larger quantities.

NW Resources Managing Director Neil Whittaker said the new bagged option was designed to give farmers more choice in how they buy and use lime.

“Not every farm has the space or facilities to store lime in bulk, particularly where farmers are using baled bedding products,” he said. “The 25kg bags give farmers a simple and flexible option. They can buy what they need, when they need it, without having to find storage for a bulk delivery.

“We are seeing increasing interest in farmers who want to combine our good quality lime with bedding such as sawdust. Used correctly, the combination can help create a cleaner and drier bedding surface, while the higher pH created by the lime can make conditions less favourable for bacteria to thrive.”

NW Resources believes the potential benefits of combining lime with sawdust, including improved cubicle hygiene and reduced overall bedding costs, have yet to be fully understood.

Neil added: “Good bedding management is about finding a system that works for the individual farm. For some farmers that will mean bulk lime, while for others, particularly those using baled products, 25kg bags will be much more practical.”

This year is also a special one for NW Resources as the company celebrates 20 years in business.

“We are really looking forward to celebrating our 20th anniversary with our customers and friends at Dairy Day,” said Neil. “And of course, no anniversary is complete without cake, so we’ll have plenty on the stand for visitors to enjoy!”

Visitors to Dairy Day can find NW Resources on Stand H138 in Hall 1 to find out more about the new bagged lime, the company’s range of cattle bedding products, and to join the team in celebrating 20 years in business.
